The tradition of this dog eating festival began over 400 years ago in China. This festival is celebrated annually during summer season and Chinese peoples believe that eating dog meat helps them to blow off heat felt through summer season.
Throughout this 10 days season dogs are caught from street and also stolen from homes (Pet Dogs) and crammed into crowded metal cages. Forced to travel long in contested cages and that too without food and water. Many of them reportedly beaten, burned, skinned and cooked alive.
